Alternative System of Medicines

Alternative medicine is any system of practice claiming to heal "that does not fall within the realm of conventional medicine. Alternative medicine varies from country to country. Alternate medicines have been used in India and china much before the present system of medicine has evolved. Jurisdictions where alternative medical practices are sufficiently widespread may license and regulate them. Alternative medicine methods are diverse in their foundations and methodologies. Methods may incorporate or base themselves on traditional medicine, folk knowledge, spiritual beliefs, or newly conceived approaches to healing.

In Indian context, alternate system of medicines include Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani and Siddha forms of medicine. In India sometimes, combinations of systems of medicines such as Allopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurveda or different combinations are used to yield better result under the system of holistic medicine.
